I am excited to begin my first session as Chair of the Finance Committee, we already have 93 bills assigned to Finance! I am delighted to have Senator Kathy Klausmeier as Vice-Chair of the Committee. The committee reviews legislation concerning business regulation, workers compensation, unemployment, health care policy and alcohol. It is a comprised of 11 Senators from across Maryland and I am looking forward to working with all of them.
I am honored to continue serving on the Executive Nominations. This committee reviews the Governor’s appointments for Department Secretaries and other appointed positions.
Yesterday, I was happy to recognize the Maryland Athletic Trainers’ Association on the Senate floor, for their contributions to the field of athletic training and in celebration of their 40th anniversary! I had the pleasure of reconnecting with trainers Jane Miraglia and Ed Strapp, with whom I had collaborated last session on legislation to allow trainers to perform dry needling.

I had the pleasure of meeting Indu Bodala, a talented student page from District 32. She is an exceptional student at Glen Burnie High School, where she is enrolled in the BioMedical Allied Health (BMAH) program.

Nancy Crawford is continuing to serving as my Chief of Staff. Nancy is a native of Anne Arundel County and has deep roots in District 32, growing up in Glen Burnie where her family was active in GBIA and supporting the Big Glen Burnie Carnival. While attending college, Nancy started working for the AACO Board of Elections and was the Director of Elections before relocating to Austin TX in 1997 with her family. Shortly after returning from Denver in 2004, Nancy was Chief of Staff for Senator Jimeno, before joining Senator Beidle when she was first elected to the House of Delegates in 2006. She currently lives in Annapolis with her husband Charles and their Goldendoodle Max.
Ash-Lynn Randolph is serving as my Legislative Aide/ Scheduler. This is her second session. Ash-Lynn is a graduate of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, earning her B.A. in Political Science with a minor in Sociology. She is currently attending graduate school at UMBC pursuing a specialization in Public Policy. Ash-Lynn is passionate about issues regarding environmental health, human rights, and public health.
Conor Curran is serving as our intern for the session. He has been involved in local issues and advocacy for eight years. He is currently a Junior at the University of Baltimore. He has served as Secretary of Education with the Chesapeake Regional Association of Student Councils representing 83,000 students to the Board of Education, including serving two terms as president, and as chair of the County Executive’s Youth Advisory Council. He has served as member and equity committee chair of the Joint Commission on the Opportunity Gap, and the former Student Trustee of the Anne Arundel Community College Board of Trustees. Conor is a native Anne Arundel County resident.
