My four years in the legislature have gone by quickly. I have learned a great deal about State Government and I am proud to represent the citizens of District 32. If I am honored to be re-elected, I will no longer be a “freshman delegate.”

This week and next week, the House is hearing and voting on Senate Bills that have “crossed-over” to the House. Many bills, however, are still lingering without Committee votes.

With only five weeks of the 2010 Legislative Session left, bills are finally moving to the floor here in the House of Delegates.

Despite passing tougher laws, Maryland needs to continue our vigilance and protect our children from sex offenders. Since 2006, the legislature has passed a series of tougher laws to crackdown on sex offenders.

The 2010 Legislative Session was off to a fast start, and then the snow arrived. We did
not have a legislative session Monday, February 8th for one of the few times in history.

It is so hard to believe another year has passed and that the 2010 General Assembly Session will begin on January 13, 2010 and close 90 days later at midnight on April 12, 2010. I expect the session to be very busy, focusing on many diverse topics including the budget, education, and energy.
